What is hypospadias?
Hypospadias is a congenital condition in boys where the urethral opening is located on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip. Severity varies from mild (opening near the tip) to more complex cases. Associated curvature of the penis (chordee) may also be present.
Causes
Hypospadias occurs during fetal development when the urethra does not form completely. The exact cause is often unknown. It is not caused by anything the parents did during pregnancy. Early evaluation by a pediatric urologist or surgeon is recommended.

Diagnosis and timing of surgery
